Boy George became a world star as lead singer of the iconic band Culture Club. As soon as the band made its appearance in Top of the Pops, George became a notorious figure. To this very day he remains one of the most colourful pop stars in Britain’s history.
George is now making waves as a sought after artist. With a string of sell out exhibitions around the world, he’s quickly becoming as known for his art as he is for his music.
According to the artist, creating art is almost a compulsive need. He usually doesn’t determine in advance what will be portrayed but thinks imperfect people are the most interesting.
Boy George once worked as a cloakroom attendant at The Blitz club in London; a club owned by the eccentric Steve Strange & frequented by David Bowie.
The artist Mark Wardel was also a regular attendee at the Club which is how he became friends with Bowie and appeared in the musicians music videos.
I was only natural for the two artists to get together and create a work of art featuring these two important figures in their lives.
